Nota has three default therapy specialties, which have multiple levels of segmentation, and we have an article with instructions for how to customize each of these elements.

1. Each therapist can be assigned a specialty

2. Each specialty has several levels of customization

- Treatment notes format can be customized for each specialty

- Goal areas can be customized for each specialty

- Billing codes can be customized for each specialty

- Practice codes can be customized for each specialty

However, some practices have practitioners with additional specialties, beyond the defaults. To make sure Nota has the flexibility to work with these specialties, a practice may add four custom specialties. Here is how it works:

To create a custom specialty, you’ll find the capability in Settings -> Practice Information. Inside the section, labeled “Custom Roles”, a practice owner may show or hide any of the four custom slots. When showing one of the custom slots, the practice may use four characters to choose a label for this role. This label will appear in any of the selectors to customize the specialty within Nota (Treatment notes, goal areas, billing codes, practice codes).

When customizing a specialty, select the specialty via a drop-down menu. In this example, two additional specialties (CTM and PSYC) are selected and both of those now appear in the drop-down for customizing the treatment note.
