Nota has two different types of codes available to a practice, billing codes and practice codes.

  • Billing codes - Default billing codes are commonly used CPT codes and are uniques for each specialty
  • Practice codes - These are completely customizable, and can be used for any billing specific to the practice. Practices create codes for things like physical items, travel time, group events, and other practice specific charges.

These codes are the foundation for creating charges, for those practices which use Nota for invoicing. A practice owner can customize the billing and practice codes by specialty to fit the needs of the practice. To customize the goal areas, navigate to Settings.

Once inside settings, navigate to Procedure and Practice Codes. From the Procedure and Practice Codes screen, the account owner has several options to customize the codes.

  1. Show or hide any existing code
  2. Assign a default number of units to any code
  3. Assign a default number of minutes to any procedure code
  4. Assign with a units or event designation to a practice code
  5. Assign a value/unit for each code
  6. Add additional codes

The selected units and values will be used to calculate charge amounts when codes are selected on the treatment note, and for invoicing.
